Youth Justice Policy

Territory Families has responsibility for young people who have been detained in a Youth Justice Centre. Using a trauma informed and strengths based approach Territory Families aims to assist young people in custody through the provision of educations, therapeutic treatment, related services and activities.

Category 1: Administrative

These policies relate to legislation, governance and operational philosophy of Youth Justice Centres in the Northern Territory.

Category 2: Security

These policies are about maintaining a safe and secure environment within Youth Justice Centres.

Category 3: Communications

These policies are about the ways in which young people can make contact with others and receive communication from others and how information integrity is maintained.

Category 4: Management of Young People

These policies are about the day to day interactions with young people that meet their individual needs.

Category 5: Health Services

These policies are about the way young people are provided with health care services.
